Thilani Samarakoon joined the University of Miami in March 2020 as Biomedical Data Librarian and a Librarian Assistant Professor. She provides data services to the faculty, researchers, and students at the University of Miami medical campus community. She works for the Data Services unit at the University of Miami Libraries.
Thilani received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Kansas State University in 2010. Her dissertation focused on the early detection and treatment of cancers. She has more than eight years of experience in scientific research and has co-authored ten publications. Thilani completed her master’s in Information Systems from the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah in 2018, specializing in Data Analytics.
Before joining the University of Miami, Thilani worked at the University of Utah, where she was the Project Coordinator for the Department of Pharmaceutics.
