Elizabeth “Liz” Gushee joined the University of Miami Libraries as Associate Dean, Digital Strategies in 2018.  She previously served as Head of Digital Collections Services at the Harry Ransom Center at The University of Texas at Austin (2011-2018).  Prior to UT, Liz held positions at the University of Virginia, the University of Richmond, and the Library of Virginia.  In her current role, Liz provides leadership and direction for the Libraries’ digital infrastructure, scholarship services, and technology planning.  Areas of the Libraries within her portfolio include Digital Architecture, Digital Production, Digital Scholarship, and Web & Application Development.
 
Liz earned a B.A. in History from Earlham College and an M.L.I.S. from The Catholic University of America.  She is a 2016 graduate of the Leading Change Institute sponsored by CLIR and EDUCAUSE. 
 
Liz’s research interests include open access, scholarly communication, delivery of cultural heritage within online environments, photography, and the vernacular architecture of the southern states.
