
Kineret Ben Knaan is the Director of Technical Services at the University of Miami Libraries. In this role, Kineret provides the direction and strategic management of library staff engaged in acquiring, describing, and ensuring access to materials in all formats, languages, and disciplines. This includes overseeing the acquisition, assessment, electronic resource licensing and management, cataloging, metadata creation, and physical processing of all library materials as well as monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and performance of the department. Kineret plays a key role in licensing new agreements in keeping with Sustainable Scholarship principles for all disciplines, iterating workflows, especially around open access agreements, and ensuring access and discovery of owned and leased content.
Before serving as the Director of Technical Services, Kineret was the Research and Assessment Librarian. She supported the Libraries' strategic goals in that role by developing an assessment program and data-driven assessment activities related to services, collections, technology, and physical spaces.
Prior to coming to the University of Miami, Kineret worked as an Acquisitions Librarian for Continuing Resources at Ben-Gurion University, Israel. Her responsibilities included data gathering, evaluation of pricing, and usage statistics analysis to support collection assessment, budget processes, and potential purchasing opportunities.
Kineret holds a Masters in Information Science, from Bar-Ilan University, Israel, and a Certificate of Business Analytics, from Cornell University. She also has a B.A. and an M.A. in Art History from Tel Aviv University, Israel.
Kineret is a Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate.
