Staff Profile: Nancy Zavac
Nancy Zavac, Head of the Marta and Austin Weeks Music Library, has a Master's of Music degree in Musicology from the University of Miami, and a Master's of Science degree in Library Science from Florida State University. From 1979 to 1982 she worked as a Music Cataloger at the University of Miami Music Library and from 1982 to present she has served as Head of the Weeks Music Library.
The highlight of her career was the move to the new Weeks Music Library facility in January 2005. Another milestone was the acquisition of the Larry Taylor-Billy Matthews Musical Theatre Archive in 1991. As Head of the Weeks Music Library Ms. Zavac is responsible for the administration and management of the library to include selection of music materials and electronic resources, information services, bibliographic instruction, cataloging, and the supervision of library’s professional and support staff. Nancy also teaches a 3 credit course in Music Bibliography and regularly serves on theses committees for graduate students. She is an active member of the Music Library Association, Southeast Chapter of the Music Library Association, and the Music OCLC Users Group.
