Jay Sylvestre joined the faculty in 2014 and serves as Special Collections Librarian. He is responsible for providing effective and creative access to collections through teaching and social media outreach, and the development and enhancement of rare book, manuscript, and archival collections.

Jay received his B.A. in history from Loyola College in Maryland in 2005, and his M.A. in Public History with an Archival concentration from Temple University in 2008. He held previous positions as the Walter J. Hickel Archivist in Archives and Special Collections at the University of Alaska Anchorage, and Project Archivist positions at the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia PA, and the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, DE.

Jay is a member of the Society of American Archivists (SAA), the Society of Florida Archivists (SFA), and the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section of the American Library Association (RBMS). His research interests include using special collections in the classroom, and enhancing archives and special collections access through social media.
