Elliot Williams

Digital Initiatives Metadata Librarian


Elliot Williams joined the faculty of the University of Miami Libraries in 2015 as Digital Initiatives Metadata Librarian.  In this role, he creates and manages metadata for the Libraries' unique digital resources, with the goal of aiding discovery and access of these materials.  

Elliot holds a BA in Archaeology from Willamette University, an MA in American History from the University of Miami, and an MS in Information Studies, with a focus on archives and records management, from the University of Texas at Austin.  He is a member of the Society of American Archivists, Society of Florida Archivists, and American Library Association, including the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services.  His current research interests include the history of descriptive standards in libraries and the role of emotion in the information professions.  Elliot lives in Austin, TX, where he works remotely for UM.
