Mei Méndez received her Master’s in Library and Information Studies from The University of Alabama, where she was an Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Fellow.  She also received a graduate degree in History from Florida International University.

She is the Librarian for the Cuban Heritage Collection (CHC), one of three special collections in the University of Miami Libraries.  In the CHC she manages the Reading Room, provides instruction sessions and research consultations, acquires material of interest to the mission of the Collections, and coordinates exhibits.

Ms. Méndez joined Richter Library in 2007 as the International Studies and Sociology Librarian and the Official Representative of the Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR).  She served as the librarian for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, History and Modern Languages & Literatures from 2009-2013.

Ms. Méndez is a member of SALALM, where she represents the University of Miami Libraries in several committees and chairs the Cuban Bibliography Sub-Committee.
